PLANT DEFINITIONS:

To avoid confusion about what we offer please read the follow information:

Definition of #1 Division BARE ROOT Plant:

This is a plant previously ground grown and harvested, cleaned of all soil, graded, and packaged. They are generally roots (Not Leafed Out) and held in cold storage during shipment (usually from Holland) until sold. The #1 division is the highest grade. They break dormancy shortly after removal from cold storage and begin to grow. Almost ALL plants purchased in garden centers, greenhouses, mass retailers, on the web or from other sources started life as Bare Root Divisions of various grades.

Bare Root Plant with Active Growth:

Usually the plants will be the same as above but out of dormancy and showing active leaf growth. This leaf growth will often die back after plant is planted & new growth begins.

DUG TO ORDER plants in active growth :

Sometimes, but not always, these can be #1 divisions previously planted in pots or in the ground, dug to order, cleaned and packaged for shipment. They always show active seasonal growth of leaves and are larger than the dormant bare root plants mentioned above. We grow many varieties of Hosta, daylilies and other perennials that are offered from time to time. These plants will be somewhat higher in cost than bare root plants due to the added labor.

Definition of End Of Season Closeout Plants:

During later Summer / Fall months we often hold "End Of Season Closeout" Sales at greatly reduced prices - often below wholesale prices. Sometimes, our suppliers sell off unsold plants for pennies on the dollar or they might be plants we have not completely sold-out on.The plants offered have been held in cold storage over the summer months and usually do not show active growth. They are viable & ready for planting. They will show full active growth the following growing season. Unless otherwise stated they are bare root. Most perennials can be successfully transplanted in early fall. If properly over wintered, they will grow vigorously the following spring and you'll have a great plant at very reduced prices. You can't beat these deals!
